A GUIDE TO
HAPPY CAMPING
ABOUT DOLBRYN
We would like to offer you the warmest of welcomes. We aim
to make your stay at Dolbryn as enjoyable and comfortable as
possible. Firstly let us tell you some things you may not
know.
Dolbryn has been a small holding for many years. The old
farm house next to the bar is said to be over two hundred
years old. The new house dating back to about 1900. There
used to be over 100 acres which have gradually been sold and
now we have just 13 acres. There are still signs of the old
farm. See if you can spot them. Let us know what you find.
Newcastle Emlyn also has a story. It is believed that in
days gone by there were many dragons that lived. But time
(and man) took its toll on these creatures and it is said
they exist no more. The last dragon that lived actually
lived here in Newcastle Emlyn. We are not convinced that it
has gone, we found some very strange footprints in the snow
this year and we cannot work out who left them!
There is loads to be seen once you
get into the slow pace of life here. We have ‘find it’
sheets for you to find and identify wild flowers, grasses,
insects and birds, there is small prize for your efforts.
Just ask at the house. Fishing is permissible in the pond,
there are plenty of small Carp & Orf to be had, fishing nets
and buckets are also available for your fun as well a rod
hire for just a small charge. And of course there is the
vine yard & meadow where you are welcome to walk, enjoy the
views & maybe have a picnic.
Our home here at Dolbryn is yours too for the time you
stay. Please enjoy the facilities we offer to the full. But
we do ask that you respect our little place and treat it,
and all the wild life here, as you would want others to
treat yours. May we offer a few guidelines to help.

SPEED
Please be aware that people of all ages and abilities may
be on site. Please keep all speed to a minimum be it car,
bike or any other wheeled transport.
CHILDREN
Most Saturday mornings in the school holidays the bar will
be open for the children to come and play for an hour. There
will be a craft activity for the children and coffee will
also be available for adults. Although Bev or Dave will be
around to help with the activities we cannot supervise your
children and you will need to be nearby. (Hopefully the
coffee will help pass the time!)
We believe in allowing space for children to explore, have
adventures and different experiences with safety of
paramount importance. We offer various activities for
children of all ages. Apart from the ‘find it’ trails we
have a pets corner where our family pet rabbits will always
be willing to say hello and receive a friendly cuddle, play
area to climb, swing, balance and hide and lots of space for
them to just play like we could in ‘the good old days’. The
field behind the pines camping field is the place to kick a
ball and have a game of tennis and the further top field for
flying kites.
We have lots of trees and water and children will always
be attracted to these, so please remember these important
things.
a) We can take no responsibility for your child’s safety. It
is important that you lay down sensible guidelines for them
to follow before they go out to play.
b) Please make sure that all gates are always closed
especially the one to the ponds.

PONDS & STREAM
Children are naturally attracted by water, the ponds &
stream are well worth a visit as there is lots to do and see
there. The stream is a great place to splash around and
catch tiddlers . But, the pond is very deep and the stream
has very steep banks in places and therefore is an
unsuitable place for children to be without adult
supervision.
THE BAR
Quite apart from Saturday morning opening, the bar will be
open for more ‘adult activities’ during weekend evenings and
five days a week in the main holiday season. You may of
already experienced the charm of our relaxed rustic bar.
This is open for families to come along and enjoy a drink
and bar games of yester year. Please come along. Maybe you
will make new friends or just enjoy being with more familiar
ones.
The stable next door to the bar is available with games for
the older, more responsible children whilst their parents
are having a drink . Please enjoy this room but remember
that it is not supervised by Dolbryn and small children must
be watched. The ponds and stream are nearby and a very big
danger especially when it is dark.
QUIET
The bar will always close at 11.00pm prompt. Being on
holiday is great fun but not if your children or partner are
grumpy through lack of sleep. We therefore respectfully ask
that the site is quieting by 10.00pm and quite by
11.30pm and further activities carry on indoors so
that those who need the sleep are not disturbed.
DOG S
All well behaved dogs are our friends and welcome guests.
They need lots of space to run and chase a ball and so, with
the close supervision of their owners, our furry friends are
invited to use the grazing fields behind the pines camping
field, and on the vine walk. But other people may not
enjoy a dogs’ company as much as you. Therefore we ask;
a) That all dogs are kept on a lead in all areas other than
those mentioned above.
b) You do not leave your dog tethered and unsupervised as
even the best behaved pet doesn't like to be teased or
frightened and you don’t always know what is going to happen
when you are gone.
c) That all deposits which he needs to unload be picked up
and disposed of in one of the bins around the site.
d) That children do not have sole responsibility for the
dogs walk or exercise. Your child may be very capable but
they may not be as good at predicting or handling unexpected
situation which may arise.
(We are aware that it is not always possible to take your
dog out with you. Please be aware of heat, noise and the
length of time you are away. We have information on dog
restrictions on the local beaches- please ask. We are also
working on providing a day dog kennel service for campers
use so it takes the worry out of leaving them. We will let
you know when this is available.)

LAUNDRY
There are laundry facilities including an automatic washer,
spin dryer and hand washing sink located next to the ladies
toilets. We rely on an honesty system of payment of £2.00
per wash or tumble dry. Please pay Bev or Dave. We can tally
your washes and add them up at the end of your stay if you
think you may be washing often.
There is also a fridge/freezer on the laundry. You may use
this free of charge for your ice packs and cold foods. But
please be aware that all items are left at your own risk..

RUBBISH
We are all more aware of recycling these days and ask that
you carry on the good practices from home whilst you are
here. To make this easy for you we have several bin stations
around the site with clearly labeled bins. Please help us by
separating your rubbish, bagging it all and placing it in
the correct bins.
We are unable to dispose of any broken or unwanted camping
waste so please take this home with you.
AND FINALLY
We hope you really enjoy your stay with us here at Dolbryn
and plan to return another day. If we can do anything to
help make your stay more enjoyable please ask.
If you want to book a local activity such as horse riding,
fishing etc we can do it for you.
If you find anything below your expectations or
unsatisfactory please tell us and come again rather than
keeping it to yourselves and not return.
Kind regards, Dave , Bev & Family
