It was quite a surprise today when I walked out and saw  the first daffodil of the year waving its yellow flag in triumph. Having beaten the winter cold and the January rain this little tissue bloom raised its head in the sparse sunshine to announce its conquest. Winter has turned tail and is running away in fear of approaching spring!
Does that inspire you into thinking about the forthcoming season? We hope so. You will see that we have a great season lined up for you this year.

1st march - opening
21st March - Easter weekend with crafts, egg activities and bonnet parade
9th - 11th may - Medieval weekend with living history camp and battling knights
24th May - mini-rafts making. This is a fun day finished off with the rafts lit with candles and floating in the pond
Aug - stew and stars weekend. an opportunity to watch a meteor shower from the vineyard.
Oct - curry-oke

we are working on other weekend specials. these will be shown on our web site nearer the date.

Please print off this news letter and pass it on to your friends.

We wish you all a great year with as much 'getting away' as possible.
Kind regards, Dave, Bev, Tom. Adam and Amelia

ANIMAL ANTICS

All our animals have been happy and healthy over the winter. They too have tasted spring, especially the goats as they nibble the little buds of the flowering raspberry bush. The ducks are now on the pond protecting their territory against the visiting wild duck and drake.  Last years chicks have resulted in two extra cockerels, so far they are all getting on well but the draw of spring urges may mean choosing a new home for them. The hens are laying their eggs ready for sitting on another new brood. And the wild birds are tuning up their vocal cords ready to be a welcoming choir on your arrival.
Easter is just around the corner and we are hoping to have some visiting lambs again this year for you to pet.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE
We have all had a good winter here. Tom is enjoying university in Plymouth, Adam is getting ready to drive in Feb (watch out) and Amelia had a great Christmas with her dancing shows.
Dave has been up to his knees in mud most of the winter, digging up here and there to improve drainage. We have also had a couple of huge trees felled which was very exciting to watch.
We have all had our fussy out of the quiet time here and are now ready for a bit of company. So hitch up those vans, pull the tents out of the attic and come and see us soon.
